Mrs. Oelkers' Pre-K
4 year olds - 5 days - 1/2 day class
Dear Pre-K families and students,
This is my first year at Assumption Academy teaching the ½ day Pre-K 4’s and it has been a wonderful, fun, and blessed year so far! I’m Mrs. Oelkers (pronounced Oak-ers) and here is a little about me and our class.
A little about me: I have my degree and teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education and have worked with young children in many capacities over the last 10 plus years. My husband and I live in Phoenixville with our daughter Evelyn, who is 3 and also attends Assumption Academy. We enjoy exploring the outdoors and spending time together! Some of my favorite things to do are going to parks, reading, gardening, arts and crafts of all kinds, and kayaking.
We are so fortunate in having the pleasure of Ms. Mary Vincent with us in our classroom this year! Ms. Mary lives in Newtown Square with her husband and has three grown children. Many of you may know her from last year as she worked in the three year old program!
Our Class: Throughout the year we will be learning and working on many concepts and skills, of course as we explore, investigate, and having fun as a classroom community! Some of these include:
Every child learns in their own unique way so we will take many approaches to learning these concepts throughout the year! Your children's smiles, stories, and excitement in discovery is what inspires my passion for teaching and helping children to become life-long learners! If you have any questions or need to contact me my e-mail is email@example.com. I have attached the school calendar and our class supply list for your reference below. Can't wait to see what 2019 brings!
We create bird feeders as we learn about animal adaptations.
As we learn about bears, we experiment with trying to dig berries out of ice, create caves for hibernation, and measure with bear paws.
We practice our math and literacy skills using magnets to make words, spell our names with felt, and create letters, numbers, and shapes in rice.
We love to be active and get moving as we learn! We played musical "icebergs", balanced on logs outside, and navigated a spiderweb.
