Mrs. Oelkers' Pre-K Class 4 year old - 1/2 day program
Dear Pre-K families and students, I am very excited to be starting at Assumption Academy this year teaching the ½ day Pre-K 4’s. I’m Mrs. Oelkers (you can pronounce it Oak-ers) and I can’t wait to get to know all of you!
To let you know a little about me, I have my degree and teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education and have worked with young children in many capacities over the last 10 plus years. My husband and I live in Phoenixville with our daughter Evelyn, who just turned 3, and will be attending Assumption Academy this year too. We enjoy exploring the outdoors and spending time together! Some of my favorite things to do are going to parks, reading, gardening, arts and crafts of all kinds, and kayaking.
Please help me in welcoming Mary Vincent this year to our classroom as well. Miss Mary lives in Newtown Square with her husband and has three grown children. Many of you may know her from last year as she worked in the three year old program!
I can’t wait to start this new school year and get to know all of you! I am excited to get to know your children and experience their unique personalities as they learn and grow throughout the year. Their smiles, stories, and excitement in discovery is what inspires my passion for teaching and helping children to become life-long learners!
Throughout the year we will be learning and working on many concepts and skills. Some of these include:
Building cognitive skills through mathematics and problem-solving.
Working on our physical skills as we participate in fine and gross motor activities and outside play.
Gaining an appreciation for the arts as we express our imagination and creativity.
Expanding our scientific thinking as we learn about our environment through observation, asking questions, and drawing conclusions from fun experiments.
Enhancing our literacy skills as we read stories, sing songs, talk and listen to each other.
Developing our social skills as we interact with our teachers and peers, gain independence and self confidence, and learn how to resolve conflicts throughout each day.
Every child learns in their own unique way so we will take many approaches to learning these concepts throughout the year! If you have any questions or need to contact me my e-mail is email@example.com. I have attached the school calendar and our class supply list for your reference below. Can't wait for a great start to an amazing school year!
